Thank you for considering our office to treat your valued patients. You have made a wise decision and given your patients the option of having quality treatment at a great price.

Please remember the following when referring your patients to us.

SCOPE OF PROCEDURES

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

We perform complicated wisdom teeth extractions under IV sedation.

  • The best time to have wisdom teeth extracted is in the late teens and early 20s.
  • A panoramic radiograph is absolutely necessary. Anything less is considered below standard of care by the College of Dental Surgeons of BC.
  • All patients are given Dr. Nair’s emergency cell number for any post-op concerns.
  • If we feel that treatment other than what you have recommended is necessary, we will communicate this to you before proceeding. For example if you referred the patient for extraction of one wisdom tooth and he/she has four then we will let you know if we feel that all four should be done before we do the procedure.

Extraction of teeth ( other than wisdom teeth)

  • All teeth are extracted atraumatically.
  • All patients are given the option of sedation.
  • All patients having teeth extracted have to be given the option of having implant therapy.
  • The current accepted consensus is that an implant be placed at the same time as extraction except in some individual situations.

Dental Implants

  • The cost for implant surgery can be as low as $1000Cdn. based on the implant make chosen by the referring dentist and the patient
  • The patient is sent back to the referring dentist with an abutment in place. There is no extra charge for the abutment
  • If a patient needs to have a tooth extracted and you are considering sending the patient to us for the implant surgery, we would like to suggest that you also let us extract the tooth because
    1. it gives us a good idea of the anatomy or the area and the dimensions of the root
    2. the best time to place the implant is at the time of surgery
  • It works best if the referring dentist gives us an indication (wax up, etc) where they would like the implant if the area is edentulous. Because I am a dentist just like you, I understand occlusion and will work with you.

Dentistry Under Sedation

  • Our exam for a patient that is sent for a specific issue (eg. Crown on a tooth under sedation) is different from an exam for a patient for whom comprehensive or multiple amount of work is needed
  • Nervous patients are made and not born
  • Many patients become phobic when
    1. wisdom teeth are extracted with adequate sedation or the procedure takes too long
    2. endodontics on a tooth that is infected
    3. continuing a procedure when a patient shows sign of ‘feeling’ the procedure
  • Our goal is to eventually make the patient lose their fear of dentistry. We achieve this by using adequate IV sedation and reducing the depth of sedation gradually for subsequent procedures
  • We do not do large composites or amalgams and instead treat these teeth with onlays or crowns. The aim is to provide treatment that going to last a long time.
