AFTER DENTAL IMPLANT SURGERY

Do not disturb the wound. Avoid rinsing, spitting, or touching the wound on the day of surgery.

There may be a titanium healing abutment protruding slightly through the gingival (gum) tissue or the implant may be completely submerged.

If a bone grafting procedure has been done then there may be a swelling of the area where the bone was added. Do not touch or apply pressure to this area. Do not sleep on your side for two weeks. You may feel particles in your mouth. Do not be concerned-this is most likely some granules of the bone grafting material used.

Resorbable sutures may have been placed. If these come out within 5 days give us a call. Do not touch or pull on the sutures.

You may see a whitish area around surgical site. This is part of the normal healing process. Do not touch this area.If you have had a sinus graft procedure, don’t blow your nose. Take the medication as prescribed.

Take medication as prescribed and rinse mouth with mouthwash as instructed.

If pain persists past 5 days and you are still having to take pain medication then please give us a call.
